Rules for applying vibhuti

Only white colored Vibhuti should be worn.  Face should be facing upwards while applying vibhuti.  Then Vibhuti should be worn on the forehead with the middle three fingers without spilling the Vibhuti on the ground.

Some worn vibhuti as a style while walking.  Some people apply vibhuti while lying down before going to sleep.both of them is wrong.

When buying Vibhuti from Acharya and Sivanadiyar, one should humbly bow down to them.

It is an important rule to wear thiruneeru while always facing North East.

Vibhuti should not be applied while the head is bowed down, the hands are trembling, the mouth is open, or while talking.

Vibhuti’s vessel should never be overturned.

While receiving Vibhuti as Prasad in the temple, one should keep the left hand down and the right hand up.

 Vibhuti should be wrapped in a paper and worn on the forehead.  Do not always rub the forehead with the left hand finger.
