Vadachennimalai Balasubramanya Swamy Temple is located in Kattukottai area near Thalaivasal in Salem district.  Murugan is the one who sits on the mountain and gives grace.  Accordingly, this Balasubramaniaswamy graces the North Chennimalai here.  This temple is known as a place of blessing for boon of children. On the way to the temple on the hill Lord Ganesha is sitting at the foot of the Mountain. After worshiping him ,We should climb the mountain.

After praying to Murugan here, couples who are blessed with a child and their wish is fulfilled, they make a cradle out of sugarcane and place the child in it and crawl around the temple.

Still others during the temple procession, with the child’s parents standing on one side,On the other hand, the relatives would stand and throw the child in front of the chariot and fulfill the wish.

Let us see the history of this temple

About a hundred years ago, boys from the villages surrounding the Vadachennimalai region used to graze goats and cows at the foothills.  Then they saw a beautiful boy running from the bottom to the top. Then The boy was followed by the village boys.

On reaching the top of the hill, the boy stopped at a certain spot and disappeared with a flash of light. The village boys were surprised to see this.  They reported this scene to the village elders.  After this, all the people of the village went to the place that the boys had told.  Three formless statues appeared there.  Signs of worship with betel nut, coconut and fruit were also found at the place.  As a result, the elders of the village want Lord Muruga to build a temple at this place.  So they decided to build a temple for Lord Muruga.

Then the people of the town worshiped the biggest of the three idols as Murugan and the two smaller ones as Valli and Deivanai.  The place was cleaned and stones were placed around the idols to cover them.  A small temple was built there with the efforts of the surrounding villagers.  Now the temple looks beautiful with the Maha Mandapam.
