“உதிக்கின்ற செங்கதிர் உச்சித் திலகம், உணர்வுடையோர்
மதிக்கின்ற மாணிக்கம், மாதுளம் போது, மலர்க்கமலை
துதிக்கின்ற மின் கொடி, மென் கடிக் குங்குமத் தோயமென்ன
விதிக்கின்ற மேனி அபிராமி எந்தன் விழுத்துணையே”..
(Abirami Anthathi 1)
Description:
Like the radiant red ray of the rising sun (morning warmth), Mother Abhirami adorns her head with a tilak. Praised by Abhirami Bhattaar, Mother Abhirami, who is revered by the wisest and the most virtuous women, is my steadfast companion. Our Abhirami Mother subdues the sun’s rays and bestows cooling light upon her devotees. Lord Surya is venerated as the leader of the Navagrahas. His radiance plays a pivotal role in our spiritual strength within this cosmic power. Only the Sun, the Atma Karakan, can provide the necessary physical strength and immunity to humankind. Only when the Sun is potent in a Jataka’s chart can they ascend to the pinnacle of fame and attain the power to govern their home and nation. Similarly, when one’s Sun is in a weakened state due to planetary positions such as Neecha (debilitated), contact with malefic planets, or Asthanga (planetary aspects), the influence of Sun in the sign of Libra can often be beneficial due to its illuminating flame.
However, this is applicable only when the Sun gains strength in the horoscope and is positioned in the 6th, 8th, or 12th house, as it won’t bring excessive suffering caused by its intense light. Sun’s placement in the Ascendant often impacts its moolatrikona house. For instance, when the lord of the 6th, 8th, or 12th house is positioned in the Ascendant, it won’t lead to prolonged illnesses and significant distress. The Sun’s influence can manifest in ailments such as brain damage, dizziness, visual impairments, vitamin D and calcium deficiencies, as well as affecting the spine, liver, and necessitating heart-related surgeries. Furthermore, it can lead to weakened body immunity, fever, and even bone cancer (when Sun joins the full Asuphara of Lagna). Such afflictions are associated with the Sun, including disorders related to bile and convulsions. As a benevolent planet, the Sun holds the capacity to safeguard individuals, but its effects in a horoscope aren’t uniform. Its influence is reflected in areas like politics, prestige, leadership, fame, education, virtuous character, eloquence, philanthropy, physical strength, courage, high status, paternal guidance, financial interests, analytical thinking, memory, and speech. These boons bestowed by Lord Surya empower individuals to achieve auspiciousness and reach higher peaks.

Explanation: In this hymn, if the Sun is positioned in the 3rd, 6th, 10th, or 11th houses from the Ascendant (Lagna), auspicious deities will grace the house of Achadhaka due to Lord Shiva’s blessings. This song suggests that Achelvan will possess Vahana yoga, wisdom, prosperous offspring, the support and favor of kings, and the prowess to defeat foes, both human and monstrous.
The 3rd, 6th, 10th, and 11th houses symbolize the ascendant of the Sun. The Sun’s placement in the Ascendant has the potential to bring about both positive and negative outcomes based on the horoscope. Typically, the Sun’s placement in the Ascendant doesn’t yield specific results. However, with a debilitated Sun or a weakened Sun Nakshatra, the Sun Lord can yield robust auspicious results during its peak months. It’s also possible for these effects to be heightened according to their Dasa Puthi (planetary periods).
Brief explanation of the Kochara benefit: When Saturn is debilitated in the 8th house of a horoscope and there’s a Sun-Rahu conjunction in Aries, the individual might experience difficulty walking (due to Saturn’s strong influence), spinal cord issues (Sun’s influence), and require medical intervention, possibly even surgery. The presence of Rahu indicates the potential for surgical procedures. Guru’s grace could bring relief after a few years. In Kala Purusha Tattva, Aries represents a fire sign ruled by Mars, indicating an increased emission of fiery energy. Therefore, due to the influence of Rahu, there’s a possibility of fires, heightened heat impact on the Earth, alterations in constitutional arrangements, and ailments triggered by excessive heat.
For instance, when the Sun occupies its own Ascendant in the natal chart, it has the potential to govern deeds related to the 1st, 5th, and 9th houses. The Sun’s influence extends to the seventh house.
Chitrai month marks one of Vishu’s (Visu’s) sacred periods, heralding the beginning of the year. In the Tamil month of Chitri, we celebrate the auspicious moment when the Sun reaches its zenith in the 10th house of Aries. When joined by other planets, their combined influences might not be as favorable. Chitra Poornami occurs when the Sun and the Moon align at 180 degrees during the month of Chitra. On this day, the cool lunar energy absorbs the Sun’s magnetic light energy, providing a soothing effect to people. Visiting water temples and seeking Abhirami Mother’s blessings on this day is advised to attain maximum illumination. Those affected by the Sun’s influences can benefit from appropriate worship and remedies.
Siddhar Puja is recommended during the month of Surya Uksha or when Surya is in contact with Guru. Additionally, visiting holy sites where the Sun enters the temple sanctum during certain months is considered beneficial.
The Sun God, Surya Bhagavan, is visible to our eyes. Daily meditation, facing the East, reciting the Aditya Hrudaya Stotra and Gayatri mantras, followed by Surya Namaskar, is a commendable practice. Individuals lacking sufficient sunlight in their bodies might face deficiencies in vitamin D and encounter skin issues. Sunlight deficiency can be addressed by exposing oneself to the Sun.
To prevent spinal issues, taking a warm water bath after applying coconut oil to the body, followed by consuming rice soaked in hot water and pepper rasam once a week, is recommended. This advice, given by the esteemed medical guru Periyava to his disciple, has shown positive outcomes.
